The answer is NO! There are claims that tanning studios provide safe tanning, this is rubbish! False radiation has all the same dangers natural sun light. Plus, the majority of sun beds give off amounts of UVB & UVA radiation that are a lot higher than what the sun give off. Even though some sun beds only give UVA radiation off in an attempt to lessen the risk of getting sunburn. It is a known fact that UVA rays contribute directly to skin cancer and causes premature aging, therefore, tanning studios are not safe in any way.

The answer is NO! There is not a safe way to get a tan. A sun tan is the skin’s way of responding to an injury. Tanning happens when the sun’s Ultra Violet rays infiltrate the skin. This then causes the skin to generate additional pigment in reaction to the injury. Persistent exposure to the sun also speeds up the aging process and amplifies the risk of developing skin cancer. So please remember that obtaining a tan to try and make yourself look better is self defeating.

You should apply sunscreen to dry skin approximately 15 – 30 minutes prior to going outside. When you apply sunscreen, pay meticulous attention to the ears, face, arms and hands, and put plenty on and don’t forget about your lips, use a lip-balm or gloss which has sunscreen in it, the recommended SPF is 15 upwards. You should apply sunscreen approximately every two hours. However, if you are swimming or you sweat a lot, you should apply it more regularly. Even sunscreen that says it is water proof loses its efficiency when it is exposed to water so you must keep re-applying.
